Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello appeared on Vol Calls on Monday night and he noted that third baseman Billy Amick is dealing with an injury that could keep him sidelined for a couple of games.
“He’s got a little something that popped up with him, too,” said Vitello. “I’ll leave it up to the training staff and the doctors. I don’t think there’s anything crazy with him, but he might be in a position where we might have to find a way to win a game or two without him too.”
Amick, who transferred from Clemson to Tennessee ahead of the 2024 season, is off to a red hot start with the Vols.
The South Carolina native is hitting .367 with 10 home runs and 26 RBIs.
Tennessee is set to play Tennessee Tech on Tuesday night in Knoxville before hosting the Georgia Bulldogs for a weekend series that starts on Friday.
It sounds like the hope is to have Amick back in the lineup by Saturday, though there's no official timetable. Fortunately, it doesn't sound like the injury is serious enough to keep Amick sidelined for an extended period of time.
