After a 6-11 season in 2023, the firing of head coach Mike Vrabel, and the departure of franchise icon Derrick Henry in free agency, you’d think the Tennessee Titans would be in line for a nightmare season in 2024.

Most organizations that undergo a coaching change and roster turnover like the Titans have tend to bottom out and rebuild. But not Tennessee. Instead, owner Amy Adams Strunk has remained steadfast in her commitment to putting a winning football team on the field.

As a result, the Titans have spent more money than anyone on free agents this offseason.

$306.4 million on new contracts for the Titans so far this offseason, and they may not be done. Tennessee has signed 11 free agents, including WR Calvin Ridley on a $92 million deal, C Lloyd Cushenberry for $50 million, and CB Chidobe Awuzie for $36 million.

On top of that, the Titans dished out a $76.4 million contract extension for L’Jarius Sneed…and they still have needs to fill with money to spend.

Given how bad things went for Tennessee last year, it may be surprising to some that they’d be big spenders…But it shouldn’t be. Amy Adams Strunk and Ran Carthon want to win. They don’t want the process of turning things around to be drawn out. They want fans to buy in and they want to go from good to great.

It’s the same reason ownership fired Mike Vrabel and hired Brian Callahan. The same reason they fired Jon Robinson and hired Ran Carthon. The same reason they are building a new stadium in Nashville.

The Tennessee Titans want to become one of the premiere organizations in America’s most popular and profitable sport. And Amy Adams Strunk is willing to put her money where her mouth is.

Ultimately, that’s got to make Titans fans happy. You don’t have to love everything the Titans do, but there are millions of sports fans around the world tortured by ownership groups who don’t spend or care about results. That’s not the case in Nashville.

If you need a reason to be optimistic as a Titans fans right now…Just look at that number of $300 million with more likely to come. That should give you faith that there will be plenty of reasons to buy tickets to the new stadium once it opens.
