Jaguars set to host up to three games in London in 2027

The Jacksonville Jaguars have historically been the most active and willing NFL franchise to play international games and to explore the United Kingdom market. This year, for example, the team will play two London games — one as a home team and another as an away team. But that number could go up in 2027.
According to Florida Times-Union's David Bauerlein, terms of the EverBank Stadium's renovation legislation that City Council could vote on Tuesday give the Jaguars the flexibility to play three games in Europe in 2027, when the renovation work would make it impracticable to play in Jacksonville.
"The other aspect that we have that would give us protection for the 2027 season is for that one season — and for that season alone — we would have the option, not the requirement, but the option to play up to three games outside Jacksonville in London," said Jaguars president Mark Lamping.
According to the same newspaper, the stadium plan is on path to approval, which would secure the Jaguars in Jacksonville for decades to come.
The proposed legislation would also give the Jaguars the ability to play up to three home games away from Jacksonville between 2025 and 2026. Right now, the team can play a game per season elsewhere — and that's why the second London game has to be as the away team.
So if the Jaguars decide to play two London games in 2026 and three in 2027, they would have a total of five home games in Europe in a two-year span.
AFC year
Since the inception for a 17th regular season game per team, there is a rotation between AFC and NFC for their teams to host eight or nine games per year. In 2027, it's the AFC teams' turn to host nine games. So even if the Jaguars host three games in England, there would still be six other games to host in the United States.
Camping World Stadium, in Orlando, and Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at the University of Florida, in Gainesville, are the projected places to receive these games.
The original plan was for Jacksonville not to receive games in 2026 and 2027, but a review of the negotiations resulted in the decision to keep games at EverBank Stadium in 2026.
Renovation plans
The Jaguars and Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan negotiated EverBank Stadium's renovation plan, in which the city would pay $775 million of the $1.4 billion total costs. The negotiation includes a guarantee from Jaguars' owner Shad Khan to maintain the franchise in Jacksonville for at least 30 more years.
Jacksonville's City Council members are studying the project and have made minor adjustments, but it will most likely be approved this week.
London market
The Jacksonville Jaguars have played yearly games in London since 2013. So far, the team has hosted 10 games there, and the 11th will be in 2024, against the New England Patriots on October 20. Last year, the Jaguars also started playing a second London game as the away team, and it will happen again in 2024, a week before the Patriots game, against the Chicago Bears at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Nine of the ten games the Jaguars hosted happened at Wembley.
