One of the top 2026 defensive backs in the nation is set to visit the Tennessee Vols later this month.
According to Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman, 2026 four-star cornerback Samari Matthews will take an unofficial visit to Tennessee on June 23.
Matthews, 6-foot/180 lbs from Cornelius, NC, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 8 cornerback in the nation and the No. 7 player in the state of North Carolina. He's also rated as the No. 88 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.
The North Carolina native previously visited Tennessee in the spring.
"Tennessee was one of the schools early on me to offer me," said Matthews to Rivals.com. "I've always had a tight relationship with the Tennessee coaches. When I went up there this spring, Coach Willie (Martinez) and Coach (Tim) Banks are definitely big for me, those are two guys I definitely respect and know what they're talking about, they check on me and make sure I'm good…After being up there, seeing it again seemed right. You want to feel like a top priority for a school and Tennessee definitely does that."
The Vols don't have any players committed yet to their 2026 recruiting class.
