The Denver Broncos are about to throw their rookie quarterback into the flames of the NFL when Week 1 rolls around. Well, we don't know that for sure, as they are having a legit quarterback battle, but it certainly feels like the guy taken 12th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, will be the guy taking the first snap in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks.
If he indeed is, which he should be based on everything we know about the other two guys and everything we have seen in OTAs and mandatory minicamp, he will have some pretty decent weapons on his side. Of course, we are hoping Courtland Sutton can get his contract situation figured out with the team, as he will serve as a safety blanket for Nix in 2024.
But they also have guys like Tim Patrick, Marvin Mims, and Lil'Jordan Humphrey, who has been connecting with Nix at camp. Oh, and let's not forget, their other rookie on offense who happened to be Nix's teammate at Oregon Troy Franklin. And, they are already picking up where they left off at the mandatory minicamp.
There have been so many clips this offseason from OTAs and minicamps that have shown those two connecting on some really nice plays. The latest was a very deep ball thrown by Nix and placed right on the money.
In just two years together at Oregon, the two managed to put together 2,274 yards through the air, and 23 touchdowns. It's fair to say they work well together, and the move in drafting Franklin may have been one of the smartest ones they made this draft.
This could be a connection we see for years to come.
