With the start of the 2024 season just around the corner, 247Sports took it upon themselves this week to predict the final record for SEC program

They have the Tennessee Vols going 10-2 this fall with losses to the Oklahoma Sooners and the Georgia Bulldogs.

From 247Sports: No one's mentioning Tennessee yet as a playoff hopeful this fall, but judging by the favorable slate, it's a definite possibility if the Volunteers can beat nationally-ranked NC State early and then handle their business in potentially season-defining matchups at Neyland against Florida and Alabama. Road contests at Oklahoma and Georgia are the projected losses here. Should this come to fruition, Josh Heupel's program should be going to the playoff for the first time in program history.

A 10-2 record should be good enough for the Vols to reach the newly expanded 12-team College Football Playoff — especially if one of those wins is against Alabama.

The Vols' ceiling in 2024 is a perfect season. If everyone stays healthy and Tennessee can find a way to get a win against Georgia in Athens, then a 12-0 regular season is certainly a reachable goal for the Volunteers.

But while that's the ceiling for the program, I think most fans right now would sign up a for a 10-2 season with wins against Alabama and Florida in Josh Heupel's fourth season leading the program.
