Tennessee Vols RHP Drew Beam delivered a message on Wednesday to recruits and players in the NCAA transfer portal.
The Tennessee native took to Twitter/X.com to extoll the virtues of Vols head baseball coach Tony Vitello.
"If you are a high school player or a guy in the transfer portal, there is no other man in this world you should want to play for! This man gives his all for his guys and would go to war for us," tweeted Beam. "Ask anyone who has ever played for him. Go Vols baby!"
Tennessee will certainly have a need for some transfer players with several Vols expected to be selected in the 2024 MLB Draft next month.
Key contributors like Beam, along with Christian Moore, Billy Amick, and Blake Burke won't be in Knoxville next season as they look to continue their career the pro level.
Fortunately for the Vols, there should be plenty of talent available in the transfer portal (numerous Texas A&M players, for example, entered the portal on Wednesday in the wake of head coach Jim Schlossnagle leaving the Aggies for the job at Texas).
Beam's message should serve as a compelling reinforcement for any player considering Tennessee as a transfer destination.
