Like all NFL teams do, the Dallas Cowboys held a pre-draft press conference.

Except theirs, did not quite go the way they were expecting.

The Cowboys have been berated for not doing anything this off-season, and rightfully so. We have discussed it on many occasions here, here, here, and here

In the very beginning of the press conference, Jerry Jones made it clear "we are very proud of our personnel. Very proud of this roster, very much think this roster, without knowing right now how much the rookies are going to contribute. We feel very very good about the promise of the team we're going to have this year."

To me this has to be Jerry drinking his own kool-aid he and the other Jones' have been trying to sell Cowboys' fans on for some time.

In no way on paper, or analytically, any way you look at it have the Cowboys gotten better.

They have gotten worse.

Jerry would go on to say " We feel great about what we've been in free-agency. So he is basically saying here we feel great about sitting back and doing nothing, because that is exactly what they did.

Next, he would go back to the famous quote that got fan's attention from early on this off-season "all in."

"We're all in with these young guys coming up and we're all in with this draft and we're all in with knowing you have to go"

I simply don't understand how Jerry can continue to spin this clearly false narrative of being "all in."

The Cowboys have two big contracts coming up in CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott. Resigning them now would free up money in the short term, allowing you to acquire better assets for the team.

They have not done that, instead they have done what they always do and created questions about players' long-term future in Dallas.

Secondly, saying "We're all in on this draft" is pretty ironic for a team with only seven picks in the entire draft.

Jerry would then ramble on to essentially blame Zeke and his contract for being the reason the Cowboys couldn't pay Tyron.

Jerry Jones would point blank be asked "What do you have to say to fans who are frustrated with your lack of moves after your comments of being all in?"

"I didn't just understand where we are with our cap."

This is an infuriating response for a fan. If you don't understand know enough about a situation how about you go and don't make a promise and then completely not deliver on it?

For one, he has had plenty of time to retract this statement or adjust it at the very least, instead, he kept fans waiting.

He also contradicts himself from earlier in the press conference in saying that they're still "all in."

I just don't understand how ownership of a team can continue to sell these lies to their loyal fans.

It seems now all they care about is being the center of attention in the media rather than winning another Lombardi.
