Entering the 2024 NFL Draft, Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton was expected to be a seventh-round selection.
After day one of the draft, that's probably not how Milton's draft journey will play out. Instead, the former Vol should hear his name called earlier than expected.
That's because night one of the draft saw six quarterbacks drafted, tying an NFL draft record.
With six rounds left in the draft, and six quarterbacks already off the board, it seems highly likely that Milton will be selected before the seventh round.
Pro Football Focus listed Milton on Friday as the fourth best quarterback still available, behind South Carolina's Spencer Rattler, Tulane's Michael Pratt, and Florida State's Jordan Travis.
There are still plenty of teams with a need at quarterback — specifically when it comes to backup quarterbacks — and there aren't many options left.
That should translate to Milton receiving interest earlier in the draft than we previously thought he would.
How much earlier?
That's tough to predict.
If there's another run on quarterbacks early on day two, there's an outside chance, albeit unlikely, that Milton hears his name called by the end of the third round.
The most likely scenario, however, is that Milton is selected in the middle rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft (round four or round five).
