The Jacksonville Jaguars have a type in this draft, and it's very obviously players who played college football at LSU. With their first-round pick, they addressed a need and took LSU wide receiver Brian Thomas to play on the outside.
They entered day two with several more needs to address. With their second pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, No. 48, the Jaguars selected LSU defensive tackle Maason Smith to address that need.
This is their second LSU player taken and their second pick, where they addressed a huge need. The defensive tackle position was poor last season.
Sure, they have great edge rushers in Travon Walker and Josh Allen, but if there is no pressure on the interior, it doesn't matter. They have someone they feel can help them in 2024 and beyond.
Now, they have other needs to address with their third-round pick, like cornerback and interior offensive line. Only time will tell what happens now.
