This incoming 2024 rookie linebacker class is not the deepest group in recent memory. The aggressive moves among the first wave of NFL free agency signings to acquire linebacker talent certainly speaks to that fact. However, there is one linebacker that seems to be good at just about everything and he has more than a half dozen official "Top-30" visits with NFL teams coming up.

According to Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report, Edgerrin Cooper (LB, Texas A&M) has at least seven official visits with NFL teams coming up in the very near future. The Eagles, Cowboys, Texans, Chargers, Panthers, Packers, and Buccaneers all want to get a look at Cooper, up close and in-person.

Based on recent data from more than 120 mock drafts in the last four weeks Edgerrin Cooper is the consensus top overall off-ball linebacker in the 2024 NFL Draft. He's considered a mid-second round draft pick coming in at 43rd overall among all draft eligible prospects.

Why is Cooper the best linebacker this class to offer?

For starters, he's a plus value contributor in every facet of the game. Cooper tallied 10 sacks last year on just 83 pass rush snaps according to Pro Football Focus. He only allowed 14 receptions on the entire season in coverage. And he was an incredibly consistent violent tackler who forced multiple fumbles last season.

When we add in the fact that he posted an 81st percentile A to Z Sports Athletic Composite at the NFL Combine it becomes quite clear Edgerrin Cooper is the top off-ball linebacker in this class.
