Nick Chubb will almost certainly be back with the Browns, but they’ll need to replace Kareem Hunt. Bringing in a back to challenge Jerome Ford as depth would be a plus.
One back the Browns have already met with at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine is Notre Dame’s Audric Estime, a source confirmed to A to Z Sports.
Estime is just 20 years old and is coming off of a season where he recorded 1,341 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. Overall, one of my favorite backs in this class who only received two years of usage with the Fighting Irish. Which, is important when you think of the shelf life of a running back.
In the NFL, Estime has the tools to be a really good back. He runs tough between the tackles and never stops churning for that extra yard. He gets to his speed rather quickly and Estime complements his speed with power.
At 5-foot-11 and 227 pounds, the Notre Dame product has a solid build that is capable of pass blocking. Estime can be on the field on all three downs.
The hope is that Chubb can come back and still be a force for the Browns, but they need security and depth no matter what. Ideally, Chubb can return at least close to form and Estime can combine with Ford to give Cleveland quality depth.
Estime is projected to go in the third to fourth round in April’s draft. If I were the Browns, I’d be comfortable taking him in the third round and they may have to if they want him.
