NASHVILLE — Back in the fall of 2020, Penn State Nittany Lions offensive tackle Olu Fashanu was a true freshman football player hoping to climb the depth chart.
Will Levis was just a redshirt sophomore with upside back then. He was the backup quarterback Sean Clifford waiting for his chance to play.
Fast forward to present day and Levis is the starting quarterback for the Tennessee Titans. One they plan to build around. Concurrently, Fashanu is set to be a Top 10 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and is excited about the possibility of playing with Levis again.
“It would be great playing with Will,” said Fashanu on Saturday during media availability at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. “He was at Penn State my freshman year and he was one of the older guys that really made my transition to Penn State from high school ball a lot easier.”
Fashanu also shared with the media that he and Levis have been communicating and staying in touch recently.
“We were just catching up. I haven’t seen him in person since my freshman year, but it was a good conversation. We were just catching up and talking,” said Fashanu.
Fashanu had a formal interview with the Titans in Indianapolis and said he “loves the coaching staff.”
With the Titans looking to put Levis in the best position to succeed in 2024, taking an offensive tackle with the seventh overall pick is in serious consideration. Fashanu could be that guy, especially with his athletic upside and the ability of Bill Callahan to develop young players.
It wouldn't shock me in the slightest if Fashanu was the pick for Tennessee at 7. That reunion with Levis could become a reality in the next few months.
