The legal tampering period for NFL Free Agency has begun and it’s becoming clear the Cleveland Browns are pushing for a big-time talent.

Defensive tackle Christian Wilkins is the top talent on the market and is going to have multiple suitors willing to pay big. The Browns are expected to be a team in on Wilkins and he is their top target, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic.

Update: Wilkins has reportedly agreed to terms with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Wilkins is one of the better defensive tackles in the NFL and just finished up his fifth season. After not being franchise-tagged by the Miami Dolphins, Wilkins hits the market as an elite talent. The Clemson product is coming off of a nine-sack season and is a stout run defender.

Cleveland has Maurice Hurst, Jordan Elliott, and Shelby Harris as free agents, though none are the players that Wilkins is. Wilkins would start alongside Dalvin Tomlinson and be a nice plus to Cleveland’s attacking front with Jim Schwartz at the helm.

Chris Jones just reset the market for defensive tackles and it was deserving because he’s the best in the game. Expect Wilkins to get a monstrous deal as well. The Browns were in on Javon Hargrave last free agency cycle, so it makes sense they’re in on Wilkins.
