Travis and Jason Kelce were back with a new episode of their "New Heights" podcast on Wednesday.
The retirement of Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald was among the topics which they discussed. Donald announced his retirement last week and recently explained his decision to hang up his cleats after 11 seasons. He is a surefire first-ballot hall of famer with an astounding resume.
Travis and Jason had nothing but praise for the three-time Defensive Player of the Year. Jason called Donald "the most iconic defensive lineman during my time in the NFL" and explained how the Philadelphia Eagles remarkably never allowed a sack to Donald during his career.
"We double and triple teamed him every single game," Jason said. "He is the only defensive tackle we have ever gone up against where the entire gameplan is situated on not having him ruin the game. In my mind, he's the best defensive player, and I don't know that it's particularly close, of the last decade."
Travis chimed in with an entertaining story about a matchup against Donald during the 2014 season.
"I'm outside the left hash, like a good 10 yards away from the guy," Travis said. "On the snap of the ball he comes and beelines to re-route me and [expletive] throws me basically off the field. Completely [expletive] ruins the play."
Travis also had a message for Donald if he were to get the itch to play again.
"Shoutout to A.D. Unbelievable career, brother. If you want to win one more Super Bowl, we'll probably have some availability somewhere in December."
Donald joining the Kansas City Chiefs and playing alongside fellow defensive tackle Chris Jones would be a frightening thought for the rest of the NFL, but of course Travis wasn't being too serious. You can catch the full episode of "New Heights" here as Travis and Jason not only discuss Donald but a range of other topics from across the league.
