Alabama Football has seen 25 of their defensive backs go on to be drafted to the NFL since Nick Saban took over as head coach in 2007. The Crimson Tide are about see two more of their star cornerbacks drafted inside the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft next month too. But 2024 sparks the beginning of a new era in Alabama Football.

There have been questions surrounding the hire of new Alabama Football head coach Kalen DeBoer. Yes, he's won everywhere that he's coached. But the most prominent question has been, "Can he recruit at a level necessary to win championships?" Fans have been split on the subject. After this week, it seems we may already have our answer.

DeBoer and the Crimson Tide signed fringe five star linebacker Darrell Johnson (on Wednesday) and four star linebacker Abduall Sanders Jr. (on Thursday) this week already. Then according to Joe Gaither of Bama Central, Alabama hosted Dijon Lee at Thursday's spring practice. Lee is a five star cornerback and the 23rd highest rated recruit in the nation via the 247Sports Composite rankings.

If DeBoer can sign Dijon Lee that gives Alabama a potential impact true freshman to help them immediately replace Terrion Arnold and Kool-Aid McKinstry. Lee is a long, tall cornerback at 6'3", 180 pounds with legit track speed. He's been considered a consensus five star cornerback for more than a year now, and his signing would move Alabama firmly inside the top five 2025 recruiting classes right now if DeBoer can pull it off.

Although Georgia, Washington, and USC are reportedly still in the mix for his recruitment Lee already has another official visit to Alabama on his schedule for this summer too. It seems that the Crimson Tide may have the edge, for now.

The jury may still be out on DeBoer's championship-level recruiting, but he's certainly taken a huge leap in the right direction. If he can continue Nick Saban's legacy of bringing in elite defensive back talent there's a good chance the Crimson Tide dynasty continues.
