The Indianapolis Colts had a clear objective to retain most of their top in-house free agents this year.

But they could be in danger of losing one after all.

The Colts signed every other free agent who was their projected starter last season outside of Julian Blackmon. Blackmon was the team's starting SS in his first year at the position after making the switch from FS. He excelled in that role and put together a career season. He set career highs across the board in 2023, with four interceptions, eight pass deflections, 88 total tackles, and five tackles for loss.

The Colts' secondary was a clear liability last year, but Blackmon was a bright spot. He was the best overall player in the secondary and arguably one of the best overall defenders on the team last season. And he is now set to visit the Buffalo Bills.

Blackmon has struggled to stay healthy during his four-year career. But he played in the team's first 15 games before suffering a shoulder injury that ended his season. I believe it would be a massive mistake for the Colts to let him leave this offseason. But it seems they could be on the verge of doing just that.
