Per ESPN's Michael DiRocco, the NFL has placed Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Chris Claybrooks on the commissioner's exempt list, which means he is banned from practicing and playing football until the league decides he can come back.

Claybrooks was arrested in July on a felony charge of false imprisonment and a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.

Jaguar Report's John Shipley revealed further details shortly after news of the arrest broke:

According to a source with direct knowledge of the situation, the incident in question dates back to Sept. 22, 2022 at 12:10 a.m. — just days before the Jaguars played the Los Angeles Chargers on the road.

According to the source, the victim alleges that the two argued and the victim attempted to leave the residence. The victim stated that Claybrooks then allegedly grabbed her around her torso and prevented the victim from leaving by physically blocking her exit. The source says the alleged incident was also caught on video surveillance. – John Shipley, Jaguar Report

Claybrooks was also arrested back in April on misdemeanor charges of domestic assault with bodily injury and vandalism. It's considered a separate incident, but regardless, Claybrooks allegedly made some poor decisions over the summer.

It remains to be seen when Claybrooks will be allowed to return. The former Memphis Tiger was drafted by the Jaguars in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft and has appeared in 46 games over the last three seasons. He's racked up 81 total tackles, five pass break-ups, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery during his career while still waiting on his first-ever career interception.
