A debate on just which team has the best linebacker duo can last for hours. For Baltimore Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen, he hopes that there will be no such debate after the 2023 season.

The Ravens went all out to bolster their linebacker unit ahead of last season’s NFL trade deadline, acquiring Roquan Smith from the Chicago Bears for a pair of draft picks. Queen ended up sharing the field with Smith for 10 total games in the 2022 campaign, including the playoffs.

Now, with a full offseason under their belt together, Queen sees that the sky is the limit for what he and Smith can accomplish this season.

"I think it's going to be electric," Queen said during a recent appearance on BaltimoreRavens.com’s "The Lounge" podcast. "Us two flying around the field, the communication that we do, just the type of style that we play with, I just think we're gonna give offenses headaches and hopefully more than likely take away the best linebacker duo category. … I think we're gonna back it up."

Opposing offenses had quite a difficult time running the football against the Ravens during the second half of the 2022 season due to the stout play of both Queen and Smith. The Ravens allowed an 87.3 rushing yards per game average following their acquisition of Smith.

The 2023 season could end up being the last that the Ravens could see of their Smith and Queen duo. While Smith is under contract with Baltimore for the next five seasons, Queen is set to hit free agency next year after the team opted to decline his fifth-year option in May.

Nonetheless, a pivotal 2023 campaign awaits both Smith and Queen.
