Dallas Cowboys CB Noah Igbinoghene (Number 19) returns a blocked field goal for a touchdown.

The Dallas Cowboys opened the 2023 NFL season in epic fashion with 16 points in the first quarter, 13 of which originated from defense and special teams as the team scored a touchdown on a blocked field goal and on a pick-six.

Safety Juanyeh Thomas opened things up by blocking the Giants' field goal attempt, which was later returned for a touchdown by recently acquired Noah Igbinoghene. The remarkable feat marked the first time the Cowboys scored in such a fashion since 2007.

So just for fun, let's list some things that didn't exist the last time the Cowboys scored a touchdown on such a play.

  • Jerry World (a.k.a. AT&T Stadium)
  • The iPad
  • Justin Bieber's career
  • Uber
  • Instagram
  • Tesla vehicles

The Cowboys ended the first quarter up 16-0 against the Giants and are looking in control of the game at the time of publishing this article.

But this is NFC East football. It ain't over 'till it's over.
