The New Orleans Saints weren't themselves last year. Mind tons of injuries, their defense showed a lot of inconsistencies. Their 2023 campaign got off to a strong start in a 16-15 victory over the Tennessee Titans, though. They made some franchise history in the process, too.

According to Saints PR, New Orleans have matched a franchise record of nine straight games where the defense yielded 20 or fewer points.

If the Saints continue this streak, they will be running away with the NFC South.

The offense will be improved, albeit not a great Week 1. Derek Carr is a clear upgrade at QB, and they will score more points than last year. In turn, that will turn into more wins for the Saints if they keep this up on defense.

In Week 1, they had Ryan Tannehill running for his life often. He threw three interceptions. The rushing defense was great in the second half against Derrick Henry as well. Every level of the unit made legitimate plays.

Next week is a chance to overtake the record for the franchise to have a sole place in the history books. The Saints need to grab a division win over the Carolina Panthers.
