With the preseason close to coming to an end, players who are on the edge of the roster have to make these final days count.
One player who needs to do that is S Ronnie Hickman, who’s had a standout training camp to this point.
It’ll only help the cause that a veteran teammate of his, Juan Thornhill, is giving great reviews on him.
During Tuesday’s media availability before practice, Thornhill shared some positive things about the undrafted free agent out of Ohio State.
“The guys a competitor,” Thornhill said. “He’s very smart. It seems like he takes this game very seriously. He’s always in the playbook, asking questions in the meetings, and when you put him on the field it shows.”
No player in the NFL has more interceptions than the three that Hickman has grabbed this preseason. He showed off his coverage ability against the Washington Commanders with two in that game.
“Some people just have a knack for the ball, the ball just finds them…Ronnie is that guy."
Hickman left the third preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles to be tested for a concussion. Thankfully for him, he cleared concussion protocol and didn’t miss any more time than that game. With the need to stay healthy and continue showing he belongs, that was big.
At this point, Hickman looks to be digging for the fourth safety spot along with D’Anthony Bell. Over the last month, the former Buckeye has done just about everything he can do to prove he does belong.
5 defensive players the Browns could look to put on the practice squad
Cleveland may want to keep these players around in case they’re needed on defense.
