Detroit Lions linebacker Romeo Okwara (95) rushes against the Jacksonville Jaguars during first half action Saturday, August 19, 2023.

During the summer of 2021, Indianapolis Colts fans were demanding that their team sign one of the many available edge rushers on the free agency market.

The most mentioned name that summer was Detroit Lions edge rusher Romeo Okwara. He wouldn't end up repping the horseshoe as he would resign with the Lions before free agency even began.

According to A to Z's Mike Payton, Romeo Okwara could be available before roster cuts next week.

Okwara is entering the final year of the contract he signed in 2021. Things haven't played out well for Okwara since signing this deal. Beginning with the first year under his new contract ending with a torn Achilles in October of 2021.

His recovery from this injury would not go as planned either, as five months into his rehab, a 2nd procedure would occur.

He would miss 25 consecutive games for the Lions before returning for the team's Week 14 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings in December of 2022.

While the Colts like their young edge rushers of Kwity Paye and Dayo Odeyingbo, if the Lions decide to move on from Okwara, his addition to the Colts would certainly make the team's room better. And there should be plenty of fans whose interest from 2021 lives on.
