Miles Sanders, the Carolina Panthers $25-million man, is being counted out again.

In a recent running back position ranking posted on NFL.com, Sanders came in as the No. 30 back, behind names like Khalil Herbert and Cam Akers.

Despite the career year, Maurice Jones-Drew, the ranker of running backs, is not exactly bullish on what Sanders is as can be heading into the 2023 regular season.

Sanders played in 17 games last season. He racked up 1,269 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. By any measure, Sanders enjoyed a career year in 2022, and the only variable is a new offense led by Frank Reich and company.

Jones-Drew writes:

"Sanders should probably be higher on this list, but to be honest, I’m not entirely sure what this offense looks like with Frank Reich calling plays for Bryce Young. Sanders had career highs in all major rushing categories in 2022 with the Eagles, but prior to last year, he had never rushed for 900 yards in a season."

Sanders is an efficient runner. He hasn't put up star numbers outside of last season. But no proof says he can't carry that production to the Panthers with Bryce Young and company. But if anyone can get the most out of Sanders, it is Reich. Only time will tell if Sanders can prove the rankings wrong.
