In big news yesterday, the San Francisco 49ers shipped QB Trey Lance to the Dallas Cowboys, but that was not his only realistic landing spot.

The Baltimore Ravens were reportedly interested in trading for the former top-5 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft before he ended up with the Cowboys.

This is an interesting development, especially with the Ravens lined up to have Tyler Huntley as their backup quarterback behind Lamar Jackson for another season.

It was the Cowboys who made the best offer, though the Ravens very well could have been one of the teams mentioned who offered a later-round pick than the fourth he went for.

Lance has struggled with injuries while he was with the 49ers but never was able to start for more than three weeks in a row with the team over two seasons. Following Sam Darnold being named the backup in San Francisco to Brock Purdy, Lance requested a trade to a new team.

At just 23 years old, Lance would have been an intriguing developmental quarterback for the Ravens if he ended up in Baltimore. There’s no doubt that Lamar Jackson is the quarterback for the long haul, but who’s to say Lance couldn’t have been valuable if he needed to step in?

At the end of the day, the Cowboys have a young quarterback who is talented and is looking to prove he was dealt a bad hand with the 49ers’ organization. It is interesting to know that Baltimore reportedly has interest.
