For the second straight day of practice leading up to the Dallas Cowboys' season opener versus the New York Giants, cornerback Jourdan Lewis was a full participant in practice.

It's certainly been a surprise for two reasons. 1) The veteran suffered a nasty foot injury in Week 7 of the 2022 NFL season versus the Detroit Lions. 2) He didn't practice all offseason long and yet made the 53-man roster.

"Jourdan Lewis has been just an incredible story of rehab," Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters on Thursday. "You talk about a significant injury, just look at the way he was post-surgery and to see him running around the last two weeks has been awesome."

"He's definitely getting close," McCarthy added.

That leaves some doubts as to whether or not Lewis will suit up for Week 1. Even still, his return will seemingly happen sooner rather than later.

Cowboys Injury Report Observations:

  • If Tyler Smith misses the game, it'd be yet another game without the Cowboys' preferred offensive line setup. Last year, Tyron Smith's training camp injury kept the coaches from lining up their starting group of five.
  • Wilson was excused from practice for the birth of his child.
  • Tyron Smith was added to the injury report with an ankle injury that's considered to be "minor" per Dallas Morning News' Michael Gehlken.
