The Arizona Cardinals will open up their 2023 campaign with a road matchup against the Washington Commanders. With this game a mere three days away, there is still a bit of uncertainty regarding the status of a few Cardinals players for the contest.

Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz was a limited participant in practice for the second consecutive day on Thursday. Ertz, who suffered a season-ending knee injury last year, did at the least take some time during practice on the day to catch passes from Cardinals quarterback Joshua Dobbs.

Cardinals wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown was also limited in practice on Thursday. Brown has been dealing with a nagging hamstring injury this week. If Arizona opts to sideline Brown against Washington, then the likes of Michael Wilson and Zach Pascal could end up seeing an increase in snaps played on offense in Week 1.

Cardinals offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum sat out Thursday’s practice due to a hand injury.

Cardinals linebacker Dennis Gardeck is continuing to trend in the right direction toward receiving the green light to feature against the Commanders. He has continued to nurse a knee ailment that he suffered during the Cardinals’ preseason encounter with the Kansas City Chiefs last month, but he has been a full participant in practice this week.
