The Dallas Cowboys have earned the reputation as one of the best organizations in the NFL at drafting and selecting talent. From the first-round to even undrafted free agents, the front office, coaching staff and scouting department put in the work.

That was put on display in the preseason opener as the Cowboys took on the Jacksonville Jaguars inside AT&T Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Multiple members of the rookie class showed out and impressed in the action.

Offensive lineman Asim Richards was among that group. Dallas selected Richards in the fifth-round of the 2023 NFL Draft after he concluded his collegiate career at North Carolina. He looked the part in his first professional game.

For one, Richards offers some positional flexibility along the line of scrimmage for Dallas to utilize. On Saturday, he played snaps at both left tackle and left guard as he moved around versus the Jaguars.

In all, he played nearly 60 snaps for the Cowboys. There, he performed well in pass protection. He only allowed a pair of quarterback pressures and did not give up a single QB hit, per Pro Football Focus data.

Dallas has a well-established track record of drafting and developing offensive linemen. Recent additions such as Terence Steele and Tyler Smith have helped further that narrative.

It's early in his career and it's difficult to take too much away from one preseason game. However, the early returns on Asim Richards are positive with the regular season less than a month away.
