The New York Giants are planning to capitalize on last season in which the team surprised many and not only earned a berth in the NFC Playoffs but also advanced in the postseason.

Naturally, there is a lot of excitement in the Big Apple surrounding Brian Daboll and his squad entering the 2023 season. New York opened training camp on Wednesday, and the hype is building quickly.

Especially for one of the big-name newcomers on the roster. The Giants traded for Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller in the offseason, hoping that he will provide a significant boost to the group of weapons for Daniel Jones.

Waller has hit the ground running with his new team. In just the opening day of training camp, the big tight end demonstrated what he can do in the offense. The Jones-to-Waller connection already looks to be ready for the season.

The former Raiders weapon has shown what he can do when healthy and targeted in the passing game. Waller instantly provides Jones and the Giants with a big pass catcher that can stretch the field vertically in key situations.

Waller is already making his presence felt on his new team. So much that one of the team's best defenders has taken notice. Giants defensive back Xavier McKinney likes what Waller adds to the roster.

"He pretty much can do everything," McKinney told the media at training camp. "I love having him on this team because I know how he's going to help me improve as a player."

Darren Waller is just one big reason why there is a lot of optimism surrounding the New York Giants. The 2023 regular season is almost here, and Waller already looks game-ready.
