Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (28) makes his way around the field Friday, July 28, 2023, during an indoor practice at Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Indiana.

Following the Colts training camp practice on Saturday night, Ian Rapport of NFL Network reported that Jonathan Taylor has formally requested a trade out of Indianapolis.

Stephen Holder of ESPN would later share that the trade request was made earlier than today when the RB met with Colts GM Chris Ballard.

All of this follows the dramatic events occurring online over the past week between Colts owner Jim Irsay and Taylor's agent Malki Kawa.

Taylor is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Due to the NFL's CBA though, the Colts can control Taylor's rights for two seasons following this year by using the franchise tag if they elect to do so.

Colts owner Jim Irsay met privately with Jonathan Taylor during the team's practice session Saturday, and after practice ended, met with the media to answer questions. This session occurred before the trade request was made public by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The hot topic of conversation being Jonathan Taylor.

Irsay affirmed earlier reports that the Colts are not currently offering Taylor an extension at this time. And went on to share that he hopes Taylor is a big part of the team's upcoming success, which doesn't sound like an owner preparing to accommodate Taylor's trade request.
