Things have been going really well for the Detroit Lions so far. It's actually been really weird. Normally it's not this hard to find something to be really concerned about. Despite the good feelings surrounding this team, there is something to be concerned about.

The Lions went out and signed Emmanuel Moseley to a one year deal in free agency. Moseley was expected to play a big role in the Lions secondary in 2023. There's belief that he would even be the Lions cornerback two after posting some good seasons as a starter for the 49ers.

The problem is that Moseley still hasn't seen the practice field for the Lions. According to Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell, it could be a while before that happens.

“Emmanuel, obviously he’s on track, but it’s going to be a while, it’ll be a while. Kind of like what I said when we started camp, everything is really going to get pushed back probably four or five weeks from what we originally thought, but we – he was really already four or five weeks ahead at that point so, we’ll see. He’s been good though. He’s been great.”

There's a bit of optimism and pessimism there. It's going be a while, but he's ahead of  what their schedule for him is. I'm just not sure which way to take it.

The concern is is obviously that he won't be ready to go by the time the season starts. That's three weeks away and he hasn't practiced yet. The Lions have more than capable corner in Jerry Jacobs, but they could really use the help from Moseley against the Super Bowl Champions in Week 1.

These things do take time though and it's important to note that every ACL is not same. Some people take longer to heal and others are able to heal faster. Moseley is in the same camp as Kyler Murray, Von Miller and Breece Hall. Those are all guys that haven't quite come back yet.

If Moseley isn't able to start the season, the Lions might have to see what Starling Thomas V can bring to the table earlier than they had maybe originally planned.

There's still time. Three weeks is a lot longer than it might seem and anything can happen. Right now it looks like he'll be starting the season on the PUP list though.
