Over the last year, I've mentioned that a couple of current Tennessee Vols would make great coaches after their playing days are over.
Specifically, wide receiver Jack Jancek and tight end Jacob Warren seem like a couple of players poised to be football coaches down the road.
After SEC Media Days this week, it sounds like we can add quarterback Joe Milton's name to the list of potential future coaches on the Vols' roster.
Milton told reporters in Nashville on Thursday that coaching might be a part of his future.
"I just want to be a coach," said Milton when asked about his interest after his playing days are over. "I want to be able to give back."
Milton, of course, is hoping to have a long pro football career. So it could be a while before he's on the sidelines wearing khakis instead of pads. But when that day comes, perhaps Josh Heupel will give Milton a shot — after all, Heupel loves hiring his former players as coaches.
Then again, plans can always change. Milton might become a superstar in the NFL which would probably push coaching to the back burner. Either way, it's clear that Milton has a deep love for football and he wants to remain part of the game in some form or fashion for a long time.
