Bills Josh Allen and Sean McDermott excluded from top-ten list
Would you consider the Buffalo Bills quarterback, Josh Allen, a top-ten QB in the league? Unless you're a Miami Dolphins, New York Jets or New England Patriots fan, the answer is yes. Would you consider the Buffalo Bills quarterback, Josh Allen, a top-ten QB in the league? Unless you're a Miami Dolphins, New York Jets or New England Patriots fan, the answer is yes.
In the same breath, would you consider Sean McDermott a top-ten coach in the league? Again, maybe Dolphins, Jets or Patriots fans would argue that isn't the case, but again the answer is yes.
However, in a recent segment on The Herd with Colin Cowher and Jason Mcintyre, Mcintryre listed his top-ten NFL head coaches and QB duos. In a surprising move, Allen and McDermott were left completely out.
His top-ten NFL head coach and QB duos, in order, were Kevin Stafanski and Deshaun Watson, Doug Pederson and Trevor Lawrence, Zac Taylor and Joe Burrow, Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford, Mike McDaniel and Tua Tagovailoa, Kevin O'Connell and Kirk Cousins, Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts, John Harbaugh and Lamar Jackson, Sean Payton and Russell Wilson (lol), and of course Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes.
Um, what?!?!
Josh Allen's historic rise to be one of the very best QBs in NFL history has, in some critics' words, defied the entirety of math itself. While wins are not a QB stat or a head coach stat, the pair have proved they can win in the NFL. Since joining forces, Allen and McDermott have 52 wins and 25 losses together, according to statmuse.
Sean McDermott joined the Buffalo Bills organization and completely turned it around, since his arrival, Buffalo has enjoyed success not seen in decades. Before McDermott was brought in (and Brandon Beane), the Bills Mafia endured the longest playoff drought in professional American sports, at that time.
To have the likes of Payton and Wilson, respectfully, sitting at number two on the list, along with McDaniel and Tagovailoa but not Allen and McDermott is a slap in the face to the organization and everything they've spent years building.
Buffalo did well with the underdog mentality until steamrolling the division for back-to-back AFC East titles. Yes, Buffalo hasn't won the big game and that's the knock on the organization, their inability to win a Super Bowl. However, not winning a Super Bowl isn't a reason to keep a top-three (and not three) quarterback and top-five (and not five) head coach out of a list of top-ten.
With training camp set to begin, all eyes are going to be on Rochester. We can't imagine McDermott or Allen are tuning into The Herd to keep tabs on their latest top–ten ratings. If they were, the duo would have a massive chip on their shoulders.
Leave it up to Allen and McDermott once again to silence the critics and show the league why they are some of the very best to do it. Not just currently in the NFL, but in the history of the game.
Josh Allen continues to show Bills fans how he will end up as one of the all-time greats
There's no doubt that anyone who's watched Josh Allen's rise with the Buffalo Bills over the past few years has seen glimpses of greatness. Whether it's him hurdling a defender as if he was or throwing a dot deep down the field, Allen has "it." And although it's way too early in his career to […]
