The Dallas Cowboys have earned the reputation as one of the better drafting front offices in the league. That includes the first-round all the way until the later stages of the draft.
Already, multiple rookies are shining in practice and turning heads as a result. One newcomer that deserves some serious recognition in training camp is former Texas linebacker DeMarvion Overshown.
Overshown was selected in the third-round of the 2023 NFL Draft after starring for the Longhorns in the Lone Star State. A former safety, Overshown offers an intriguing skill set that obviously caught the eye of defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.
And so far, he is proving Quinn right. Overshown has been seen making plays in coverage during training camp, putting his defensive back background on full display for the coaching staff.
In fact, the former Texas Longhorns defender grabbed a pair of interceptions in the latest Cowboys practice. He also showed off some of his athleticism in the process too, according to insider Todd Archer.
"Rookie LB DeMarvion Overshown had two picks in practice, ending the workout with an acrobatic takeaway on a screen pass that Hunter Luepke tipped in the air," Archer tweeted out on Saturday. "Overshown was lying on his back as he caught the ball."
Cowboys star Micah Parsons has taken notice of what the rookie has done in camp, per Mike Leslie of WFAA. In addition to the interceptions, Overshown has reportedly been active in getting tackles for loss, too.
"Micah Parsons says he’s really seen DeMarvion Overshown flash so far in camp," Leslie tweeted out. "He says he’s told Overshown to stop thinking, and “just let it go”. He says he saw something today in particular, with D-Mo’s ability to make plays."
The preseason will paint a better picture of where Overshown stands heading into his first NFL season. But it's clear that he is making a strong impression already with his play in Oxnard.
