Kansas City Chiefs DT Chris Jones is back in football pads, but he's not wearing them for the purposes of rejoining his team at training camp.
Jones' holdout continues as he seeks a long-term contract extension and he continues to rack up fines for missing practice sessions. He's keeping himself busy while away from the team, training and staying in shape in South Florida, but he's also seemingly taken up acting in his time away from the team this offseason.
Jones recently joined his teammate Travis Kelce in a commercial, where he got a chance to treat a television like an NFL quarterback. FOX 4 Sports anchor and reporter Harold R. Kuntz captured the recent DirectTV commercial featuring Jones and Kelce, sharing it on the website formerly known as Twitter.
Check it out:
In the commercial Jones crashes into the TV, tackling it and smashing it into the ground. Kelce then plugs the DirecTV "SPORTS CENTRAL" product and a bystander asks Jones about his excessive behavior in tackling the television.
"I was just illustrating a point," Jones says.
It's certainly a fun little advertisement featuring two Chiefs greats on the current iteration of the team. The money earned by Jones for the advertisement should help him pay for the fines as they continue to pile up during his training camp holdout. Jones even poked some fun at the situation in his social media caption of the video.
"When (Travis Kelce) asked me to help him out, I couldn't refuse," he wrote. "Stop compromising, and start watching football with DirecTV so I can get back to tackling people."
Fans eagerly await Jones' return with the 2023 NFL preseason rapidly approaching. It's clear that he's anxious to get back on the football field as well.
Chiefs DT Chris Jones is about to lose a lot of money before he gets paid
