Mike Tomlin has been coaching the Pittsburgh Steelers for over a decade and a half at this point, meaning he knows the city like the back of his hand.
But just because he holds one of the more notable titles in Pittsburgh, it doesn't mean he's immune to the everyday stressors of life in the city.
That includes a road and highway system that, let's just say doesn't meet the standard:
Mike Tomlin: "Road Construction, that's my one Complaint"
On the most recent episode of "Grillin N Chillin" Steelers tight ends Pat Freiermuth and Zach Gentry sat down with Mike Tomlin to have some laughs, discuss his famous "Tomlinisms" and ask Tomlin's biggest pet peeve in Pittsburgh:
"What's one thing about the city, something that you don't like?" Asked Steelers tight end, Zach Gentry.
"Road construction," answered Tomlin. "It's ridiculous. You can never anticipate it. It never happens during off hours. It's like they start fixing bridges at 9 am when everybody's on them. That's, my one complaint."
"So basically we can say that you're going to be coaching at one of the premier college programs next season if they don't stop construction, you know a USC type?" Asked Gentry Jokingly.
"Hahahaha," busted out Tomlin in laughter.
Now that last comment may come off as an inside joke, but it stems from one of Coach T's best moments on the mic, answering a reporter in a fashion only someone as clever as he can:
So while Tomlin will be HC of the Pittsburgh Steelers up until he wants to set off into the sunset, the roads and construction in and around the Pittsburgh greater area aren't exactly helping to keep him around.
A lighthearted interview, Tomlin may have been joking, but come on Pittsburgh Department of Transportation, do better.
