The Denver Broncos, once again, are dealing with some bad news.
While Russell Wilson has shined these past few days, pulling off highlight-reel-type touchdowns and having impressive back-to-back days, the team is still painted in a negative light for things seemingly out of their control.
Much like last season, the team is battling with injuries. A nasty string of events has forced multiple players to miss the entire season before playing a single snap. WR Tim Patrick tore his achilles and LB Jonas Griffith tore his ACL.
Now, while unconfirmed on the severity of the injury, Wilson and the front office can't be happy with the latest injury news. Specifically, Mike Klis from 9News reported that RT Mike McGlinchey and WR Brandon Johnson headed to the trainer's room for an undisclosed reason.
McGlinchey was a splash signing from Sean Payton and is looking to make an immediate difference on the roster. This offseason, the team signed the former San Francisco 49ers RT to a massive 5-year $87.5M contract to protect Wilson. While the visit with trainers could be cautionary, it's not a good sign for the team.
It's been reported by Zac Stevens, Denver Broncos beat reporter for DNVR Broncos, that McGlinchey had limped off the field where trainers worked with him before he ultimately left the field.
There is an opening for WR on the roster and Johnson is doing everything he can to try and crack the 53-man roster. If he is to miss substantial time and not shine during the preseason, it could unfortunately mean his removal from the roster.
Early reports are that Johnson should be fine, but there are no specifics from the team at this time.
Some thought that Johnson was a camp sleeper who was poised to replace Patrick on offense. All that's left to do is wait and hope that it's nothing serious and Wilson can get one of his weapons and a crucial piece of the offensive line back and ready for action.
