The Dallas Cowboys have a little situation with one of their rookie players.

Defensive tackle Mazi Smith has been dealing with some tendinitis in his knee, which has led him to have an MRI.

Smith's game is all about power, so having knee issues isn't ideal at all. But it’s better to stay proactive about fixing the issue, especially with the season opener a month away.

The Cowboys have had one of the best defenses in the NFL for the last couple of seasons. However, stopping the run has been an issue at times, which is why Smith was drafted in the first round.

Smith showed a great ability to take on double teams and be a space-eater, which allows linebackers to be free to roam and make plays. Also, he can defeat guys one-on-one or win against multiple blockers with his strength to bring down ball carriers.

More details to come from A to Z Sports on this situation as they unfold.
