Everybody is waiting to see Aaron Rodgers take the field for the New York Jets.

However, they will have to wait a little bit longer.

ESPN's Rich Cimini reports that Rodgers will not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, and instead it will be Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle in the pocket.

Rodgers did not play in the Jets first preseason contest against the Cleveland Browns in the annual Hall of Fame game. Instead he sat on the sidelines, and even helped coach Wilson, with the former BYU quarterback giving Rodgers credit with calling a play that resulted in a 57-yard gain.

Wilson went 3-for-5 with 65 yards in the Hall of Fame game before being relieved by Boyle and Chris Streveler. And Wilson will get even more time on Saturday to show what he can do.

Rodgers was traded to the Jets in April 2023 after 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers. The four-time NFL MVP has only one Super Bowl victory under his belt, but is looking to get another in New York.

Rodgers has proven to be a team player, taking a $35 million pay cut in order to ensure the team can be the best it can be. While many players are concerned about money, Rodgers actions prove that he wants to win.

After Saturday, the Jets have two preseason games before the regular season begins and it is expected that Rodgers will see a little bit of time in one of those games.
