It isn’t every day that an ex-Florida Gators’ player is going to have good things to say about a Georgia standout.

Retired NFL RB Fred Taylor did just that when it came to Nick Chubb.

On an episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Taylor praised the former Bulldogs’ star.

As the show was talking about the current situation around NFL running backs and their contract issues, Taylor had to add something.

“I want to add one guy who we all can consider might be the best back in the NFL right now in Nick Chubb. He’s been healthy, hes been kicking a**,” said Taylor.

Since entering the NFL, Chubb has rushed for 6,341 yards in five seasons. If it wasn’t for Hue Jackson starting Carlos Hyde in the first seven games in 2018, Chubb would have six straight 1,000-yard seasons to start his career.

“With the addition of Deshaun Watson, who should also increase their run game input,” Taylor signaled how Chubb could improve in 2023. “I think prior to that he’s been a consistent pro. He doesn’t say much, he just gets it done.”

Taylor made the point that Chubb could be an outlier in terms of NFL running backs who could get paid. Perhaps Chubb is one that they have to pay since he does everything you want him to.

“I would expect teams would look at what he’s done, look at his value.”
