Nick Caserio & Co. may have just found their kickoff returner for 2023.
Per NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Texans are in agreement with wide receiver/returner Steven Sims on a deal.
In 2022 for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Sims returned 19 punts and 17 kicks. On punts, Sims averaged 5.5 yards per return with a long of 24 yards.
On kicks, Sims averaged 25.5 yards per return with a long of 89 yards.
In addition to return capabilities, Sims is capable of being a threat on offense as well. In 2019 with Washington, Sims caught 34 balls for 310 yards and four touchdowns.
In 2022, Sims caught 14 balls for 104 yards on an offense that struggled to put points on the board.
Sims joins Robert Woods and Noah Brown as new additions to the receiver room in Houston. I expect King to remain the primary punt returner in 2023, while Sims will handle kickoff duty.
