One of the top QB prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft had some interesting things to say about the Chicago Bears.

CJ Stroud is expected to be one of the first QBs off of the board in April. However, he won't be too happy if the Bears are the team that selects him.

Stroud met with the Bears at the NFL Scouting Combine and was later asked about the encounter.

"I don’t want to go there. That’s Justin’s team,” said Stroud. “He ain’t no damn running back. He’s a quarterback."

Stroud doesn't have anything against the Bears, he is just close friends with Fields. "He texted me yesterday morning," explained Stroud. "Me and him are brothers for life.”

While rumors have been floated about the Bears potentially taking a QB, that seems to be unlikely at this point. According to Ian Rapoport, there is "significant interest" in the number one pick.

After a disappointing rookie season in 2021, Fields had an impressive sophomore campaign. In 2022, Fields finished with 2,242 passing yards and 17 passing TDs. The young QB also contributed the second-most rushing yards by a QB in a single season with 1,143.

It should also be noted that Fields was able to have that impressive season with quite possibly the worst skill position talent in the league. After the impressive season, many including Stroud feel that QB is no longer a need for the Bears.

Stroud will have no shortage of suitors if the Bears indeed stick with Fields. The star QB has already met with several of the teams picking in the top ten, and seems like a lock to be the first or second QB taken.

Stroud had a storied career at Ohio State, finishing second in school history in career passing TDs and was a Heisman Trophy finalist in both of his seasons as a starter.
