Texans: Bryce Young's measurements are finally official
The Houston Texans were waiting for this moment of the offseason for a long time.
Perhaps more than anybody, the Houston Texans were waiting for Bryce Young's measurements to come in. After all, they're the favorites to trade up to the No. 1 overall pick and the Alabama QB remains the odds-on favorite to be picked in that spot.
Young's size has been the biggest knock on him throughout the entire process but finally, we have official numbers on him: He came in at 5-foot-10 and 1/8 of an inch and weighed 204 pounds.
For comparison, Young was listed as 6-foot-0 and 194 lbs in Alabama's 2022 official roster.
The top QB prospect was already expected to come in shorter than that mark but Young's weight took more than one person by surprise. Inevitably, his numbers were immediately compared to Kyler Murray.
You can see the numbers of each side by side in the tweet below:
The question in everyone's minds is if Young's draft stock will take a hit or not. It will be difficult for the Texans to overlook the quality football Young has put up on tape just because of numbers on a piece of paper.
"I've been this size my whole life," said the Alabama prospect earlier in the week.
It's not a new debate either. Kyler Murray dealt with it. Drew Brees, Russell Wilson, and many others before Young were at the center of similar conversations.
The real question is: Can Young overcome his biggest flaw?
He sure did in college. It's up to the Texans (and maybe another NFL team) to decide if he will on Sundays.
