The Seattle Seahawks finished 2022 with the seventh-most sacks. The defense finished top-10 in Football Outsiders' adjusted sack rate. 12 players recorded at least one sack during the regular season.

But, apparently, it's not enough.

The Seahawks' latest move proves just as much. Per The Score's Jordan Schultz, the team hired one of the country's best coaches when it comes to getting after the quarterback: former Michigan State Spartans pass rush specialist Brandon Jordan

Per Jordan's bio on Msuspartans.com, Jordan has "specialized in training elite defensive linemen the past few years while serving as CEO of Brandon Jordan Trench Performance, working with more than 200 players on NFL rosters, including Pro Bowlers Jadeveon Clowney, Cameron Heyward, Chandler Jones, Von Miller and T.J. Watt".

And those who know Jordan think he's one of the best in the country when it comes to his craft.

When it comes to an individual perspective, this move helps Seahawks EDGE Darrell Taylor more than anyone. The Seahawks made Taylor a situational pass rusher in 2022, meaning he mostly came in to get after the quarterback on passing downs, and he blossomed in that role. He ended up tying top pass rusher Uchenna Nwosu for the team lead in sacks with 9.5.

“About a month ago it made some sense to him about featuring his strengths and really trying to maximize the speed rushes that he is so good at,” said head coach Pete Carroll. “I think it has kicked him into a different gear. He’s out there more, and he’s trying to maximize his ability to run around guys. He has a great get-off, and he’s very athletic, and that’s his strength as opposed [to] trying to do too many things and maybe watering down his good shots at getting to the quarterback.’’

If Jordan can mold Taylor into a three-down player, then the Seahawks defense will benefit in a major way. Having two quality pass rushers in Taylor and Nwosu is something every NFL team wants and spends all kinds of resources to obtain.

But, either way, Jordan is sure to make a positive impact, which will be huge when it comes to getting after opposing NFC West signal-callers.
