The NFL’s offseason in in full swing, which means all kinds of lists and rankings are beginning to rear their head. But Pro Football Focus just released its list of the top 101 players from the 2022 season which featured six Dolphins standouts.
It comes as no surprise to see Tyreek Hill’s name at the top of this particular list. Hill checks in at the No. 7 spot, which is just in front of Justin Jefferson at No. 8.
Hill led the league in yards per route run (3.07) by more than half a yard, and his 48 explosive plays were top in the NFL beating out Jefferson by one.
Tua Tagovailoa is the next player listed at No. 45. Tagovailoa was in the MVP conversation before an unfortunate series of head injuries derailed his season and dashed the Dolphins Super Bowl aspirations.
Christian Wilkins (58) and Jaelan Phillips (59) went back-to-back in PFF’s rankings. The two dynamic defensive linemen played a massive role on the defense in 2022.
Phillips led the Dolphins with seven sacks while Wilkins was consistently making stops in the backfield with a team-high 16 tackles for loss. Each player underwent a tremendous amount of growth this past year.
Jaylen Waddle falls to No. 66 on this list. Waddle didn’t seem phased by the addition of Hill last offseason, proving to be one of the NFL’s most dangerous No. 2 wideouts.
Finally, DT Connor Williams rounds out the bunch at No. 98. Williams was a model of consistency at center in 2022. He played in all 17 games totaling 1,127 snaps and only allowing 16 total pressures including the playoffs. He graded out as a 85.6 run-blocker per PFF and showed that he is was a true upgrade at the position.
This list goes to show just how much star power the Dolphins have on its roster. At this level, it’s impossible to win on a consistent basis without good players. Miami can find solace in knowing that it will once again have one of the most skilled rosters in football when the 2023 season kicks off.
