The Denver Broncos are projected to land one of the better free agents in this class, which may sound like a shock considering the season they had last year. After that monstrosity of a season, why would anyone want to sign with this team?

That’s a great question and I have two answers to it. First of all, they have a new ownership group that has shown they are willing to spend money. Second of all they have a new coaching staff with Sean Payton leading the way, a guy who players love to play for.

Both of those are a huge reason Pro Football Focus has one of the best free agent offensive lineman signing to the Broncos this off-season.

According to PFF, Jawaan Taylor, the Jaguars stud pass blocking left tackle, is set to leave Jacksonville for Denver based on their 2023 projections.

Here is what PFF said about Taylor:

“Taylor is a pending free agent generating a lot of buzz around the league, which is understandable considering he’ll be just 25 years old through the first two months of the 2023 season and his 73.6 pass-blocking grade on true pass sets over the past two seasons ranks eighth among right tackles.

“New Broncos head coach Sean Payton always prioritized a stout offensive line in New Orleans, notably making Ryan Ramczyk the highest-paid right tackle in the NFL before taking his hiatus. While Denver may not make a huge splash in free agency given quarterback Russell Wilson’s contract and their lack of draft capital to add cheaper contracts, if they did, a player like Taylor would probably be a target.”

Russell Wilson was sacked more than any other quarterback in the league last season with 55 sacks. It’s safe to say he could use some protection. That may be the Broncos biggest issue too, especially with all of the injuries they had last season and just inconsistencies overall.

The Broncos could use some help in that area and I think Taylor can be a guy that the Broncos will love to have in the trenches.
