Bills re-sign P Sam Martin to a three-year deal
The Buffalo Bills locked up one of its most effective weapons to a three-year deal on Monday.
The Buffalo Bills kicked off the free agency period by inking punter Sam Martin to a three-year deal worth up to $7.5 million.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo was the first with the news.
The contract details on Martin’s new deal have emerged.
Base Salary
2023: $1,165,000
2024: $1,550,000
2025: $1,785,000
Martin will receive a $1.2 million signing bonus and $2.365 million guaranteed.
Punting in Buffalo is a difficult task, but Martin performed well considering the weather conditions are less than ideal for specialists. The 10-year veteran averaged 47.7 yards per punt in 2022, which marked the second-highest average of his career.
Credit general manager Brandon Beane for taking care of the team’s in-house priorities before dipping his toes in the free agency pool.
