Bills announce re-signing while losing key player in free agency
The Bills don’t have the salary cap space to retain all of their players.
Simultaneously, as reports surfaced that the Buffalo Bills would be losing linebacker Tremaine Edmunds in free agency, the team announced they were re-signing defensive back Cam Lewis.
Lewis played 13 games last season, starting one, and registered 21 tackles. He primarily played safety in 2022 after playing cornerback earlier in his Bills career.
The 2019 undrafted free agent out of the University of Buffalo also helped out on special teams last season.
The Bills entered the offseason with negative salary cap space, so it's predictable they're prioritizing re-signing their own cheaper free agents than splurging on signing or re-signings.
The Bills did agree to terms with former Cowboys guard Connor McGovern, filling a major need on their offensive line. They also agreed to a contract extension with linebacker Matt Milano.
