The Texans made a couple of minor moves on Wednesday.

Center Scott Quessenberry has been re-signed on a one-year deal, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.

The veteran lineman started all but one game for the Texans in 2022, filling in for Justin Britt. While PFF was not exactly high on his play, Quessenberry did receive praise from his coaches during the season.

While the Texans will assuredly add to the interior offensive line during the draft, Quessenberry offers continuity and depth. The terms of the deal have not yet been reported.

Additionally, the Texans claimed QB EJ Perry from the division-rival Jaguars. Perry's father, John, was a member of Bill O'Brien's coaching staff in Houston for seven seasons.

Perry has yet to appear in a regular season NFL game after going undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft. Shortly after the conclusion of the draft, the QB latched on with the Jaguars.

Perry was one of the initial roster cuts before the 2022 season, but would quickly sign to Jacksonville's practice squad. That's where Perry would remain for the 2022 season before inking a reserve/future in January.

Perry would later be waived after the Jaguars announced an extension with backup QB CJ Beathard.

Finally, the Texans are expected to release veteran linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin at the start of the league year.

Reeves-Maybin signed a two-year deal worth $5 million guaranteed before the 2022 season. By releasing the veteran, the Texans will eat $2 million in dead money, and save $2.25 million against the cap.

Reeves-Maybin played in all 17 games for the Texans in 2022, mostly on special teams, and collected 15 tackles and one fumble recovery.

The linebacker's best season came in 2021 for the Detroit Lions. That season, Reeves-Maybin collected 82 combined tackles, four tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles.

Blake Cashman, Jake Hansen, and Garrett Wallow are all under contract for 2023 as depth linebackers, perhaps squeezing the veteran out. Reeves-Maybin will not fill up a stat sheet, but he can still be a quality special teams contributor.

Expect more moves over the next few weeks for the Texans. Free agency officially starts on March 15th at 4 pm ET.
