The Denver Broncos need all the goodwill and positive energy they can get going into this next season because if anything goes wrong, it could be a repeat of last year – a disaster.

No one in their right mind wants to have a season like the one the Broncos had last season, where they had high expectations to make the playoffs but ended as one of the league's worst teams. The Las Vegas Raiders were a team with a similar 2022 season.

But, now that Sean Payton is the head coach, everyone seems to think things will improve. No one is saying this team will contend, but I'm sure everyone thinks they will get better.

That's what happens when you add a guy who has won a Super Bowl. Everyone has respect for him and knows that he is the right guy for the job. In fact, one of his old friends, and now one of his NFC foes, is giving him compliments and letting everyone know what they can expect from Payton and the Broncos in 2023.

"Very rejuvenated," The Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell said during annual meetings. "You can tell he is hungry and ready to go with the change of scenery. I think you're about to get the best version of him that there's been in a while. I can't speak highly enough of Sean."

Campbell served under Payton with the New Orleans Saints from 2016-2020 as an assistant coach. The soon-to-be third-year head coach has his team improving year after year and almost had the Lions in the playoffs this last year. He is already a respected coach in this league.

Payton has everyone's respect though, and Campbell isn't just saying that because he worked with him. He is saying that because that's how Payton really feels. Honestly, Broncos fans should hear Campbell's comments and just get excited.

While it took a lot of bad happening to get here, the Broncos got their guy. All we have heard all offseason so far is that he will be the perfect guy for the job. He brought the New Orleans Saints back t relevance, and he can do the same for the Denver Broncos. Let's hope so. But the things we are hearing around the league force us to kind of believe it, and we should be excited.
